The Church has a mission. Your film is a catalyst.

 Christian films should never fade

THEY SHOULD CHANGE LIVES

We turn global film releases

into local ministry movements.

Most Christian films are released just like any other film.

When the goal is life change, this model alone is not enough.

Soil & Story is a not-for-profit that exists to unleash the full potential of Christian film and media by igniting local Gospel momentum in places where it’s needed most. We bring long-term trusted local partnerships in over 100 nations.

Our model delivers a high-ROI global release strategy by mobilizing local Christians, pastors, and missionaries to drive awareness, attendance, and long-tail streaming revenue, giving filmmakers wider reach, deeper engagement, and significantly greater profitability than traditional distribution alone.

The local church is God’s plan to transform the world.

Today, films can be distributed and translated almost anywhere, but access alone doesn’t change lives, local ministry does.

A new film is a great opportunity for evangelism and discipleship.

Before a film is released, we bring together local ministry, community and marketing leaders to build a plan that aligns the story with your cultural context, spiritual priorities and ongoing discipleship work.

Your voice can help filmmakers:

  • tell better stories,

  • identify languages for translation,

  • choose the best platforms for local distribution,

  • have a lasting Kingdom impact.

About Soil & Story

What we Measure

You can tell a lot about an organization when you know how they measure success. For us, it’s three simple things.

#1. Number of films activated in and beyond major media markets

#2. Number of Christians in a nation who use a film to share their faith

#3. Percentage of promotional costs recovered locally and reinvested to extend the impact of a film to more nations.

Our Team

The real champions behind Soil & Story are the front-line pastors, missionaries, local believers and agency partners who serve with and through the local church all over the world.

Global Leadership:

GEOFF PETERS (President/Chief Executive Officer)

Geoff has spent his career building systems that help Gospel work scale with integrity and stewardship. Before age 30, he founded and led multiple ventures, including a ministry growth firm whose digital tools served more than a thousand churches across the United States. Most recently, Geoff served as Global Director, Church and Ministry Engagement with the Come and See Foundation, stewarding The Chosen, and as a strategic advisor for Salvation Poem Project, stewarding the film, Light of the World.

Prior to that, Geoff served as Global Marketing Director at Jesus Film Project (Cru) where he helped steward the most watched and most translated film in human history for evangelism and discipleship around the world. In that role, he built the organization’s first global brand and marketing support team and worked alongside frontline ministry leaders to build a film launch strategy across 30 countries and more than 100 languages.

As Global Chief Marketing Officer at Operation Mobilisation, Geoff led global marketing and creative teams serving ministry workers across 118 nations, deepening his conviction that Gospel impact accelerates when global resources serve local leadership. At Compassion International, he served as Global Marketing Director for intervention programs, overseeing more than $200 million in annual revenue and launching an enterprise-wide innovation process that generated $280 million in new donor revenue.

Throughout his career, Geoff has worked closely with filmmakers, creatives, and ministry leaders to help Gospel stories take root in ways that are culturally faithful, locally owned, and spiritually fruitful. He and his family live in Colorado.

SEAN FURLONG (Chief Operating Officer)

Sean brings more than 25 years of trusted operational leadership in global Christian ministry, providing the financial, administrative, and governance foundations that enable mission work to scale with integrity. A U.S. Coast Guard veteran with formal training in leadership and intercultural studies, Sean has built and overseen systems that support ministries across countries, cultures, and languages.

He served over two decades with Youth with a Mission (YWAM), holding senior responsibilities across finance, administration, training, mobilization, and international team leadership. He later oversaw an international publishing ministry, 30 Days of Prayer, ensuring the production, financial accountability, and distribution of prayer resources in more than 40 languages to over one million believers annually. In 2020, Sean launched and led the U.S. office of the Great Commission Foundation, providing compliant donor processing, accounting, and operational services to hundreds of international ministries.

Sean is known for his steady leadership, strong controls, and ministry-first stewardship mindset. His experience in governance, donor accountability, and cross-border operations ensures that Soil & Story’s work is supported with transparency, excellence, and faithfulness as Gospel impact grows globally. He and his family live in Colorado.

EWOUT VAN OOSTEN (Chief Localisation Officer)

Ewout brings more than 20 years of trusted cross-cultural ministry leadership, with a proven track record of strengthening local churches and building sustainable ministry movements among least-reached populations. Over the past decade, he has developed and led church-based networks spanning more than 70 nations, equipping leaders, mobilizing volunteers, and supporting ministries that extend Gospel impact far beyond traditional church settings.

Prior to joining Soil & Story, Ewout served as Executive Director of TeenStreet International, a global Christian youth movement engaging tens of thousands of young people annually across multiple continents. Under his leadership, TeenStreet expanded its international footprint, strengthened national leadership structures, unified partner ministries around shared outcomes, and established long-term discipleship pathways that emphasized local ownership and continuity beyond large events.

Ewout’s commitment to accountable, locally led ministry is also reflected in Taste, the missional community he and his wife founded in the Netherlands. Recognized nationally for its impact on neighborhood transformation, Taste has been cited by civic leaders and referenced in the Dutch parliament as an example of effective community engagement rooted in shared responsibility and the lived expression of Christian faith.

At Soil & Story, Ewout leads global ministry impact efforts, ensuring that every film launch is executed with clear ministry objectives, local voice, strong local partnerships, and measurable, lasting outcomes. His leadership helps ensure that donor investments translate into durable Gospel impact through churches and ministry leaders on the ground. Ewout and his family live in Georgia.

BELEN PETERS (Senior Global Advisor)

Belén brings more than 20 years of global ministry leadership and is a trusted voice within the Spanish-speaking church worldwide. She has led multinational teams, built durable church partnerships, and designed engagement strategies that move pastors and congregations from initial interest to sustained participation in mission, strengthening both ministry outcomes and donor confidence.

Previously, Belén served as Director of Latino Church Mobilization for Scatter Global, where she led partnership strategy across the Americas and supported churches as they stepped into greater global engagement. Her leadership emphasized relational trust, clear accountability, and long-term collaboration. Prior to that, she spent 14 years with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Santiago, Chile, serving as a base director and cultivating one of the region’s most extensive pastor and ministry leader networks. During that time, she helped churches transition from a “receiving” posture to a sustainable “sending” identity, resulting in enduring partnerships in regions such as Eastern Europe and South Asia.

Belén also founded and led Transformission Translation Services, a U.S.-based translation and transcreation firm serving leading Christian ministries, including Compassion International, David C Cook, OneHope, and Every Home for Christ. Her work ensured theological accuracy, cultural clarity, and message integrity across languages, expertise that is essential for global film-based ministry and responsible cross-cultural communication.

As a Strategic Ministry Advisor with Soil & Story, Belén helps ensure that every film launch is grounded in strong local leadership, cultural understanding, and ministry-first planning. Her leadership supports transparent collaboration between filmmakers and churches so donor investments translate into faithful, contextually sound, and lasting Gospel impact.
